Classic & Byzantine Art

We will start the day with a visit to St Chora Museum, where you will see some of the finest examples of Byzantine art, frescoes and golden mosaics. Your guide will take you through the lifetime of Jesus and Mother Mary following the artefacts on the walls. We will then head to Archaeological Museum, where the largest collection of Ancient Greek, Roman and Persian items from Asia minor and near east are displayed. We then head to St Sophia, the master work of Byzantine architecture and the largest church of its era. After lunch we will walk through the Arasta Bazaar and visit the Mosaic Museum, where mosaics from the original floor of the Byzantine Palace are on display
